The Indonesian Journal of Social Studies was founded in 2018 in order to offer the disciplines in the field of social science education a representative scholarly publication. Abstract

Purpose of this research is to make the right strategy to build entrepreneurial skills at SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Surabaya. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through teachers related to the school's entrepreneurship program and students who were active in entrepreneurial activities. Entrepreneurial activities at SMA Muhammadiyah are analyzed using constructivist learning theory in which students will be grouped with the group. The exchange of ideas, thoughts, and experiences in entrepreneurship will help in developing students' entrepreneurial skills. The existence of field trsocial studies supports students' entrepreneurial skills because students are directly dealing with varied consumers. No less important is a marketing strategy through effective social media in this all-digital era. Growing social capital in terms of beliefs, networks, norms and values. Can help in terms of entrepreneurship of students. The results can build students' entrepreneurial skills with these three strategies. Evidenced by the results of observations and student work reports. students can be more dexterous in selling their products and can make good and correct reports.

Abstract

In 2018, the growth of Indonesian entrepreneur increased significantly from 1,6 % to 3,1 % over three years. In order to increase the number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia, entrepreneurship education at universities has an important role to foster interest in entrepreneurship. Drawing on entrepreneurship education literature, entrepreneurial mindset in students will be strength if education have ability to distinguish entrepreneurs from other profession.  This study aims to construct attributable to the particular self-concept which define entrepreneur profession characteristics. In testing how attributes forming profession characteristics, this study uses PLS-SEM to confirm the model. This study uses a sample of 303 undergraduate students participating in the educational setting that educate entrepreneurial mindset. Findings shows that self-concept defining entrepreneur profession include entrepreneurial creativity, opportunity recognition capability, and risk management capability.

Abstract

The purpose of this laughter therapy is to increase the level of happiness of the therapy targets, namely Heads of Division and Head of Sub Division of Unesa. The number of targets for laughter therapy was 51 people. Increasing the scale of happiness is assumed to have an impact on increasing the body's immunity, so this laughter therapy can be an effort to prevent the Covid-19 attack which is currently pandemic. Methods of implementing the activity: (1) preparation of a happiness scale questionnaire instrument, (2) preparation of funny videos, and (3) implementing laughter therapy. The design of the activity implementation adopted the research paradigm of the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The data analysis of changes in the happiness scale used Wilcoxon's non-parametric statistical analysis techniques and was assisted by SPSS. The results achieved: (1) the Happiness Scale Questionnaire Instrument has been successfully created, which is packaged in the form of a google-form, (2) 15 funny videos that meet the criteria are not contra-educational and free from elements of violence, SARA, and pornography) which are collected on flash drives and on Google Drive, and (3) laughter therapy activities have a positive impact on the happiness scale of the Head of Sub-Section of Unesa, there was a significant increase.

Abstract

Character development and intellectual enhancement of students were important and prioritized in the national education system in Indonesia. The purpose of this research was to explain and find out the results of implementation the Strengthening of Character Education (SCE) through social studies learning and school culture at Junior High School Sunan Giri Menganti Gresik. This research was qualitative research based on a case study. The research was conducted in September-December 2020 with the subjects were school principals, vice principals in curriculum, social studies teachers, and school members. Data collection techniques was interviews, documentation, field notes, and observations. Data analysis used three methods, there were data reduction, presentation of data results, and conclusions. The results showed that implementation the SCE at Junior High School Sunan Giri Menganti in social studies learning written in the RPP based on the 2013 Curriculum reference and in school culture through classroom management, Islamic culture, mutual cooperation and discipline, home visit, National Day Celebration, and Islamic Day Celebration.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the development of digital IPS teaching materials that can be used to improve critical thinking skills during a pandemic. With a focus on, 1) How is(X) the application of digital teaching materials in learning, (2) How do(X) students respond to teaching materials, and (3) How are(X) the effectiveness of teaching materials. The Data were collected by observation, interviews, and tests. The research location was located at one of the junior high schools in the city of Surabaya. The effectiveness test used Mann Whitney in the control class (not using the developed teaching materials) and the experiment (using the developed teaching materials). The results of the study show; 1) Social studies learning is more optimally carried out asynchronously, (2) The students response to teaching materials is positive, and (3) the results of the difference test between the control and experimental classes show a difference. In the control class, the critical thinking ability tends to be constant and the answers to the test results are homogeneous and textbook, while in the experimental class it shows an increase in critical thinking skills and the answers to the test results vary according to the environment of each students.

Abstract

The PBLHS Movement Plan which was ratified as intended in article 7 of the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number 52 of 2019 in paragraph 2 states the instructions for integrating the PBLHS movement in the One KTSP document. It is known that the textbooks used so far have not been able to support the PBLHS program, especially in Basic Competency 3.3 material so that learning occurs in class without going through a written document structure. This fact also shows that social studies learning through the PBLHS program is not well designed. This study aims to compile an Integrated Social Studies learning textbook PBLHS program with theme 4, namely "Dynamics of Human Interaction with the Environment". This study used a research and development (R&D) research design using a 4D models development model.

Abstract

The development of tourism potential with educational nuances is an effort to develop a tourism potential in which there are several vehicles that can foster character values in children. This study describes the development of the potential for Cengkir Manis Tourism with educational nuances in Tanjungrejo Village. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method as a stage in carrying out research. The subjects in this research are managers of tourist attractions, visitors to tourist attractions, and sellers at tourist attractions. This research uses data collection techniques that include the observation stage, the interview stage, the documentation and recording stages. The data analysis used is descriptive qualitative data analysis. The results showed that the manager had planned to develop the tourism potential in Cengkir Manis Tourism. In connection with the existence of the development plan, Cengkir Manis Tourism can also be used as a tourist place or tourist attraction with an educational concept for tourist visitors and also for children, because there are several rides that are interesting and challenging and have educational value such as fostering a character of curiosity, character self-confidence, and also the character of courage.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism industry of Bangladesh and to suggest some probable recovery strategies for minimizing the effect of COVID-19 in the tourism industry of Bangladesh. Secondary data is the heart of this study and the study has been conducted by following the three steps approaches of secondary research procedures which include developing research questions, identifying the database to answer the research questions and evaluating the collected secondary dataset. The study has found that the COVID-19 has several negative impacts on the tourism industry including the noticeable losses of revenue, a huge number of cuts off of jobs and closing the operation of the business both permanently and temporarily. Though it is near to impossible to get overcome this pandemic quickly but taking proper strategies can minimize the impact and recover the industry. This study provides an understanding of the present scenario of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic with a guideline for future research to the academician and probable recovery strategies for the industry professional.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: 1) the difference in the effect of problem based learning and discovery learning on students' critical and creative thinking skills, 2) the effect of problem based learning and discovery learning on students' critical and creative thinking skills simultaneously. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent comparison-group design. Collecting data using pre-test and post-test in the experimental class I and II. The data analysis technique used the independent sample test and Manova test with the help of the IBMM SPSS Statistics version 23 application. The results of the independent sample test showed that the critical thinking variable obtained a score of tcount 2.180 > ttable 1.996 with df. 66 and creative thinking variable with a score of tcount 2.103 > ttable 1.996. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there are different effects on critical and creative thinking skills. In the Manova test results obtained a significance of 0.26 <0.05 so that it can be concluded that there is an effect on critical and creative thinking skills simultaneously on the material for the development of the Islamic empire. The comparison results show that discovery learning has more influence on critical and creative thinking skills with an n-gain of 0.49, compared to problem-based learning with an n-gain of 0.41.
